63-year-old pedestrian stabbed, robbed in the Mission

A 63-year-old man was stabbed and robbed while walking down a Mission district street Tuesday night, police said.

Three cowards ganged up on the man at 16th and Capp streets around 10:30 p.m., police said.

One of the punks grabbed him from behind. Another came up and punched him in the stomach. The third demanded the victim’s wallet, police said.

“The suspects then grabbed the victim’s wallet, stabbed him in the chest once and fled the scene,” the police report said.

The victim’s injuries were not life threatening, police said.

It was another recent example of a shocking incident in which a pedestrian was stabbed during a robbery on city streets.

In Potrero Hill, a 36-year-old woman who had just left her car around midnight was stabbed when the robber attacked her from behind and cut her neck with a box cutter, police said. The woman suffered life threatening injuries but is recovering, police said.

Cops called the robbery “especially brutal” because the suspect did not even attempt to demand the purse before he cut the woman.

Police say they are tracking a suspect and are awaiting results of DNA analysis on a bloody box cutter that was left near the crime scene.
