Police are hunting for a hit-and-run driver who critically injured a 59-year-old pedestrian in the Bayview district Tuesday night, police said.

The woman suffered internal injuries after being struck by a dark-colored sedan on Third Street near Revere Avenue about 9:10 p.m., police said Wednesday.

The sedan had been speeding southbound on Third when the woman was hit, Officer Tracy Turner said.

The woman was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, where she was being treated Wednesday for injuries that are not considered life threatening, Turner said.

The suspect vehicle fled and has not been found, Turner said. Further details were not immediately available.
