The CEO of Razoo, a fundraiser for nonprofits, has helped the San Francisco company raise
$100 million for more than 14,000 nonprofits, with more than half of that raised in the past nine months. The company reached that funding milestone in part through Giving Days, which are 24-hour online fundraising competitions that have spurred local giving events that blend social interaction and game-design thinking. What are your goals with Razoo?
Our overall mission is to transform people’s lives by enabling meaningful giving. Giving makes people feel good and we want that to be accessible to all. Technology makes it easy for anyone to be a philanthropist.
How did you feel when you found out you had raised $100 million?
It was very exciting. It’s an important milestone and a validation of our goals. What’s most exciting is that over half of the $100 million was raised in the last nine months, despite the company starting in 2007. We really have been leaders in catalyzing local giving.
What’s next for Razoo?
The $100 million milestone is just the beginning. We think that there is an opportunity to create a global effort and bring that joy of giving to everyone.
