2 suspects held in San Mateo burglaries

San Mateo police announced Tuesday the arrests of two suspects in connection with a number of recent burglaries in the city.

In the most recent case, a 48-year-old man was arrested while allegedly committing a residential burglary early Saturday, Sgt. Dave Norris said. Responding officers spotted the suspect, later identified as Vincent Joiner of San Mateo, fleeing in a ski mask.

Joiner was booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of burglary of an inhabited dwelling, possession of stolen property, and resisting or obstructing officers. In the other case, last week police arrested 18-year-old Pedro Mendoza of Menlo Park in connection with three San Mateo burglaries.

Mendoza was arrested Thursday during a traffic stop in Belmont. Property in Mendoza’s possession, and also in his vehicle and found later at his residence, allegedly linked him to San Mateo crimes.
