An 11-year-old girl was hospitalized after being grazed by bullet Friday afternoon in the Visitacion Valley neighborhood of San Francisco.
Police were responding to a ShotSpotter activation on the unit block of Leland Avenue about 3:45 p.m. Callers to 911 said several suspects fired toward a minipark at Leland and Peabody Street.
None of the suspects were spotted at the scene, but cops did find the girl, who police said was an “apparent unintended victim” and had sustained a gunshot would. She was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Officers from the Ingleside Police Station spotted a green two-door Lexus – the type of vehicle the suspects were described getting into – entering northbound U.S. Highway 101 from Bayshore Boulevard. Cops pulled the car over without incident and have detained three occupants. A gun was recovered from the vehicle.
Several lanes of northbound Highway 101 were closed as police conducted their investigation.
